Meet Our Team
President / CEO
Ron has more than 30 years’ experience providing banking services to customers across Texas. He began his career at Texas Commerce Bank and later served 12 years as EVP Retail at Bank United, helping to grow it into the largest publicly traded bank in Texas with $18 billion and 155 locations. Ron has provided strategic consulting to CEOs at banks of all sizes, from small community institutions to regional banks to London-based Barclays. Prior to leading Pioneer, Ron served as COO and Director of First Community Bank.
Ron’s philosophy on success is simple. “Foster great ideas by surrounding yourself with people who are smarter than you and think differently.” He also believes that bankers have a unique role to support the growth of great companies and the visionaries who lead them.
“Business is a puzzle. I love learning how companies work, what drives the people who make them successful, and how we, as bankers, can help.”
Ron’s a family man whose greatest joy comes from making his wife and twins happy. He doesn’t play golf, hunt or fish, for which he apologizes. Ron also serves on the advisory board of Undies for Everyone, a nonprofit that provides more than a million pairs of new underwear annually to disadvantaged school children and victims of disaster.
Chief Financial Officer
Larry has more than 34 years of banking experience. He has held multiple leadership roles including CFO at Allegiance Bank, corporate controller at Cadence Bancorporation and controller at Amegy Bancorporation.
Throughout his career, Larry has specialized in a range of financial and strategic management disciplines. From corporate strategy and process improvement to mergers and acquisitions.
At Pioneer Bank, Larry leads the accounting, financing and investing functions. He serves on the Investing and Pricing Committee and the Asset/Liability Committee among others.

When he’s not busy being the world’s greatest dad at home, Larry is often out hunting or reeling in the catch of the day.
Larry resides on the board of directors for Open Door Mission, which runs a respected rehabilitation facility that supports the homeless and people in need throughout Houston.
Larry is a certified public accountant (CPA) and a chartered global management accountant (CGMA). He has a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University.
Chief Lending Officer
Chris has more than 35 years of lending experience, the majority of which has focused on Commercial Banking in the greater Austin market.
For the last eight years, Chris has managed all Commercial Banking, SBA and Mortgage activities across Pioneer Bank.
Chris has a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, and is also a graduate of the Southwestern School of Banking at SMU.
“I love the business due to the ability to serve and learn about different industries, business owners and people in the communities where I have operated. I love being able to say I bank that company or someone simply being introduced as ‘my banker’.”
Chris and his wife of 14 years have one daughter living at home and delight in watching her grow up so quickly. He also has two adult children who are both married and living in Austin, each pursuing their dreams. Chris enjoys traveling with his family and hunting in the Texas Hill Country, in particular chasing the elusive wild turkey in the spring each year.
Chief Operations Officer
Cathy has more than 25 years of experience in banking operations. She has worked in notable institutions including the FDIC, Bank United, Washington Mutual, Encore Bank, Cadence Bank
At Pioneer Bank, Cathy oversees all loan operations, branch/deposit operations
“Nothing excites me more than to see a happy customer – one that has confidence and trust in what we do. Mentoring staff is my second passion, teaching and helping them bring out their best qualities and strengths, getting them ready for the next level.”
Cathy loves spending time with her family – whether it’s going to the movies and indulging in the cinematic experience or playing a game of golf.
Chief Administrative Officer
Joni has more than 20 years of human resources management, including more than eight years in executive management.
Joni took on the role of Chief Human Resources Officer upon joining Pioneer Bank, overseeing all aspects of the HR function including payroll for more than 250 employees across 23 locations within Texas.
In her current position, Joni provides executive oversight of human resources, compliance and information technology. She is actively engaged in strategic initiatives while managing day to day functional activities at Pioneer Bank.
Joni has a BBA in Marketing from Lamar University. She is also a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Regional President, Central Texas
Chris leads Pioneer Bank’s team of commercial lenders in Central Texas. During his 20-year plus banking career in Austin, Chris has held numerous key leadership positions including Chief Lending Officer at Anthem Bank, Market President at Colonial Bank, First Vice President at IBC Bank and Senior Vice President at Citibank. He joined Pioneer Bank from American Bank where he served as Senior Commercial Lending Manager since 2011.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Bourne earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas School of Management. In addition, he attended the SW Graduate School of Banking.
“Pioneer is currently the largest locally headquartered bank in Austin, which to me means we are from here and want to serve our community. I enjoy working for a bank our size the most because we are able to provide sizable loans while providing a high level of customer service that only a community bank can provide. In a way, we are a “super community bank”.
Chris enjoys working out, spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors with his Labrador, Colt. He also moonlights as a DIY expert at home.
Senior Commercial Loan Officer
Donna began her finance career in 1988 in Dallas, Texas. Less than a year later, she moved to Austin. And to this day, she remains a dedicated banking professional in the state’s capital.
Donna has worked as a commercial lender at Chase, Comerica, Regions Bank, Northern Trust and American Bank. She has helped and managed clients across different industries, closing transactions ranging from $50,000 to $250,000,000.
Now at Pioneer, Donna develops new client relationships and maintains existing ones, helping produce loans while bringing in deposits.
She has a BBA in Finance from Texas Tech University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.

Kids and sports make up most of Donna’s life beyond Pioneer. She is a proud mother of three teenagers, actively supporting them in cross country, track and softball. She loves to play tennis and attend Camp Gladiator workouts.
Senior Commercial Loan Officer
Dan helps businesses in and around Austin think bigger and accomplish more through astute financial strategies that fuel growth. He has built 20 years of experience in commercial banking, the last 17 of those serving the Austin market.
Dan primarily focuses on assisting middle-market operating companies, family offices

Dan enjoys trying to keep up with his wife on the tennis court and getting outdoors for all manner of activities with his two kids. He serves on the board of the Capitol Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and builds homes with Habitat for Humanity.
Senior Commercial Loan Officer
Patrick began his banking career in 1990 in Dallas, Texas and has more than 38 years of commercial banking tenure. He has spent 15 of those years in the Dallas metroplex area working as Bank One's Senior Vice President and 23 of those years in Austin as Regions Banks Senior Vice President.
Now at Pioneer, Patrick works as a leading commercial lender by building authentic and personal relationships with businesses and business owners.
Having grown up in Texas for most of his life, Patrick earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at El Paso in Finance and Management and an MBA from Texas A&M School of Accounting and Finance.
“I thoroughly enjoy getting to know the businesses and business owners and I have always made it my goal to provide exceptional customer service to my clients. I understand that they have a choice where they bank, so I work hard to understand their goals and aspirations, not only for the business but for them personally.
Patrick enjoys spending time with his family outside of work. He volunteers most of his time as an Assistant Scoutmaster for his youngest sons Boy Scout Troop. He also serves on the Finance Committee and Board of Catholic Charities of Central Texas and is an ordained deacon serving at St. Thomas More in Northwest Austin.
Treasury Management Officer
Chris began his Austin area banking career in 2001. Having nearly two decades of banking experience, Chris has built his career by continuing to cultivate beneficial relationships through consumer and small business banking.
Chris has worked as a Teller Coordinator at Bank of America, a Licensed Personal Banker and Assistant Vice President at JPM Chase Bank, a Senior Business Services Officer at American Bank, and Vice President of Treasury Management at Independent Bank.
He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin and has been certified as a Treasury Professional (CTP) since 2012.
Now at Pioneer, Chris delivers customized solutions for business through deposit services, payments, collections, fraud prevention, and information reporting tactics in the ever-evolving field of Treasury Management.
“Treasury Management provides a constant supply of “aha” moments – both for me and for the clients I work with. The Treasury side of banking is always evolving and presents unique opportunities to help solve problems.”
Chris’s family and the outdoors make up most of his life outside of work. He loves to venture out to the beach and attempt to conquer the waves as an aspiring surfer.
Mortgage Loan Officer
At Pioneer Bank, Tom is responsible for new residential mortgage loans. He brings 27 years of residential lending experience in origination and training. He has worked as a mortgage specialist for financial institutions including BancorpSouth, Colonial National Mortgage and Bank of America.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of the Theta Xi Fraternity.
Tom is not only a sports aficionado but also a passionate mentor. He coaches youth baseball and volunteers as a track and field official – supporting his local community in fine Texan form.
Mortgage Loan Officer
Phillip has more than 27 years of banking experience with several mortgage brokers as well as national regional and community banks. With a proven track record of success in mortgage lending, he has managed people, budgets, forecasting and data analysis.
At Pioneer Bank, Phillip has established long-term relationships with members of the community by exploring opportunities and finding the right solutions to realize their visions. His lending responsibilities extend across all residential real estate including purchase, construction, lots and refinancing.

Phillip is an avid skier and horseman, and pursues many activities with family and friends – all while living the dream in Dripping Springs, Texas.
A member of the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce 2018 Leadership class, Phillip devotes a good deal of his time working with the organization. He is also actively involved in many local community projects.
Commercial Loan Officer
At Pioneer Bank, Michael manages commercial lending activities for San Marcos and surrounding areas. With more than 16 years of experience, he has acquired a wide range of banking knowledge across commercial real estate and development, company acquisitions and financing.
He worked as a credit analyst, auditor and lender before landing managerial roles and becoming an SVP. Businesses large and small have looked to Michael for their financial needs – from small startup capital to major expansion funds.
Michael has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Oklahoma State University. He also attended the SW Graduate School of Banking.
“I’m passionate about helping local business owners. I enjoy helping them develop financial solutions that target their specific needs and help them achieve their goals.”
Michael’s pursuits range from trout fishing and traveling to exploring Austin and wine vineyards in the Hill Country. He is also an avid college football fan.
Regional President, Houston
Bringing 40+ years of banking experience, David is responsible for building the Pioneer Bank’s commercial lending team and presence throughout Houston.
He joined Pioneer Bank from Texas Capital Bank where he managed an eight-person team, as well as loan and deposit portfolios of nearly half a billion dollars each. With more than 35 years of commercial and industrial lending experience, David also has worked for Encore Bank, Wells Fargo, Coastal Bank, First Heights/ Prime Bank, and First City during his career.
He holds both a BBA and an MBA from the University of Houston.

A family man and avid traveler, David relishes every chance he gets to explore new places with his wife and hang out with his kids. He also enjoys taking his clubs out for a swing at the golf course and mowing the grass in the name of home maintenance.
He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Goodwill Industries of Houston and the Board of Directors for Vecino Health Centers, which provides healthcare to underserved citizens in the Denver Harbor, Airline and Aldine communities.
Commercial Market President, Sugar Land
Tim has more than 25 years of banking experience in C&I, CRE and E&P lending. He has worked in businesses ranging from small community banks to large financial institutions.
Tim is responsible for commercial lending in Fort Bend County and Sugar Land.

Tim enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. He is also an avid golfer.
Commercial Real Estate Director
With 36 years of banking experience, Rick has worked for a variety of institutions in Houston, Boston and Washington D.C. He has held roles across credit analysis, commercial lending, portfolio management, loan work-outs/foreclosures and credit risk management.
Rick has originated more than $2 billion of CRE loans throughout his career including more than $1.5 billion secured by CRE projects in Texas alone. At Pioneer Bank, Rick specializes in financing commercial real estate properties mainly in the Greater Houston area.
“I’m passionate about building longstanding customer relationships and enjoy seeing projects that were once only a vision become a reality. It’s all about helping customers succeed, even in the face of unforeseen difficulties and unanticipated obstacles.”
Rick has a list of hobbies as long as the distance from Boston to Houston. He enjoys family activities with his wife and three kids, traveling, gardening, snow skiing, golfing, sporting clay shooting and freshwater fishing. Rick also plays the fiddle and bass guitar, and volunteers for church and community-related activities and missions.
Rick has a BA and majored in Finance at the University of Texas at Austin. He is both a graduate and graduate instructor at Dale Carnegie, and retains memberships with the NAIOP and ICSC.
Commercial Market President, Galleria/Uptown
Rose has 26 years of commercial banking experience at several local banks including Sterling Bank, Encore Bank and most recently, she served as senior vice president at Texas Capital Bank.
Rose brings a unique knowledge of the different communities within the Houston business market for Pioneer to serve a diverse customer base throughout Houston.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics with a minor in finance from Texas Tech University.

Rose is an avid runner and enjoys stretching out while finding her balance through hot yoga. She is also involved in numerous charity and community organizations.
Rose has served on the Board of Directors of Asian American Family Services (AAFS), the Asian Chamber of Commerce, Asian Pacific American Heritage Association (APAHA) and is involved in a number of other organizations including the Greater Houston Women Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and the Asia Society Texas Center.
Commercial Market President, The Woodlands
Danny has more than 35 years of banking and private equity experience in large national institutions and local community banks.
At Pioneer Bank, he is responsible for sourcing commercial business including loans and deposits across The Woodlands, Tomball and wider North Houston area.
Danny has a BA in Finance from Louisiana State University and an MBA in Finance from Capella University. He is also the former chairman for The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce.

With three daughters, Danny Schroder is constantly on the go. But when the opportunity presents itself, he will readily pack some clubs and head to the golf course for a game or two. He also enjoys traveling with his family and exploring new places.
Commercial Loan Officer
Susan has 18 years of commercial banking experience. She started her career at a call center where she analyzed credit card transactions for fraud. Since then, she has worked as a loan processor, underwriter, servicer and portfolio manager.
Now a lender on the residential and corporate real estate (CRE) side, Susan grows and manages Pioneer’s Builder Finance and CRE portfolio.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Arizona State University and a Certificate of Accounting from University of Houston.
“I love seeing a client present an idea to me for financing and seeing it being created. It’s fun to see an undeveloped piece of land go to a master planned community with schools, walking trails, parks and vibrant growing families. It gives me a great feeling of satisfaction that I am a part of it.”
Much of Susan’s world revolves around her five-year-old daughter, Molly, and her husband, Buddy. As a family, they enjoy traveling and hanging out with friends every chance they get. Susan also likes to keep fit, having recently signed up for her second half marathon.
Government Lending Director
Barry has more than 36 years of banking experience. He specializes in SBA lending working with customers throughout Texas and managing all aspects of government guaranteed lending. He manages the Pioneer Bank SBA/USDA Lending team.
“Working with our customers, I learn something new every day. Whether it’s an industry that I did not know existed or a new way to produce or deliver products and services.”
When Barry isn’t guiding and supporting Pioneer customers, the outdoor beckons. An adventure is always around the corner – whether it’s fishing or exploring.
SBA Loan Officer
Jon has 12 years of SBA financing experience, serving customers in a variety of roles including closing coordinator, funding processor and loan production.
He specializes in exploring the best path for customers to grow their businesses while entertaining both SBA 504 and SBA 7A loan structures.
Jon holds a BBA from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
“I enjoy most when an existing customer calls me back and asks for another loan request without thinking of calling another bank. Customer service and responsiveness – these are my two most valuable qualities.”
Jon’s daily training regimen consists of following two toddlers around, threatening them to behave every 10-15 minutes. He also enjoys playing golf and embarking on the occasional ski trip.
Commercial Loan Officer
Billie has more than 35 years of experience in all aspects of the banking industry. This includes 10 years of executive level credit management for a global manufacturing conglomerate. She has extensive knowledge of financial analysis, commercial and commercial real estate lending.
Billie is a current board member and past secretary of the Texas Chapter of RMA, and a current Board member and past president of the San Antonio Chapter of RMA.
At Pioneer Bank, Billie manages a commercial loan portfolio and is also responsible for growth through business development. She provides commercial credit services to customers and prospects according to specific lending limits and approved Bank Policy.
“I’m passionate about working with business clients and being a partner with them in the growth and success of their business. I love to make commercial construction loans for a client’s new office building or retail shopping center, and take pride in the fact that our bank provided the financing on that project.”
Aside from being the world’s greatest grandmother to her two granddaughters, Billie enjoys gardening and walking and playing with her three dogs.
SBA Loan Officer
Margo has more than 25 years of banking experience specializing in SBA financing, including six years as an SBA underwriter and eighteen years as an SBA loan officer.
She works with entrepreneurs to determine the right financing solution for small business expansions, start-ups and franchise projects to name a few. She focuses on SBA financing project structuring, underwriting and closing, utilizing both the SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs.
Margo is a certified public accountant and holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
“I strive to identify the right financing solution, which is more than just being a ‘loan officer’. Rather, it is being an advocate for entrepreneurs to pursue the American Dream. It is very satisfying to work with individuals making the exciting and challenging leap to the entrepreneur world, as well as work with small businesses to take the next step.”
A dog training and competition enthusiast, Margo has participated in the annual AKC National Agility Championship three times with her canine companion Bullitt.
Commercial Loan Officer
Frank has worked in banking for two decades, spending 11 years in a credit underwriting role and more than five years as a commercial lender.
He serves the Dallas-Fort Worth market, assisting local businesses to secure financing for real estate, equipment and working capital needs.
Frank has a BBA in Finance from Lamar University in Beaumont.
“I like meeting with people and hearing their life experiences on how they became successful business owners. It feels great to connect with them and be a trusted partner with their financial needs.”
Frank loves spending time with his wife and two boys, participating in activities ranging from kids’ sports to hunting and fishing.
He also serves on the Finance Committee and the Capital Campaign Committee of his local church.
SBA Loan Officer
Jacob has worked in banking for eight years, starting his career as an underwriter in New York before becoming an SBA lender. He is responsible for business development within Pioneer Bank’s SBA lending portfolio.
Curious by nature, Jacob takes the time to learn about each customer’s business situation. He diligently examines every aspect of their operation, talks with them about their goals and guides them to financial solutions that help them go farther.

Jacob enjoys taking his clubs out for a drive and teeing off among the hills and bunkers of the golf course. He also takes every opportunity to go off-grid and camp with friends.
Commercial Loan Officer
Melinda began working for Pioneer Bank, formally First National Bank of Crockett and First Community Bank, in 1987. She has held multiple roles across operations, lending and real estate.
With more than 30 years at the bank, she has developed lasting relationships with her co-workers and customers – many of whom are neighbors, friends and family.
Melinda is currently responsible for the bank’s local business and agriculture loan portfolio.
“I work to establish long-term with my customers. They have been loyal to me and Pioneer Bank, and have adapted to many changes along the way. I enjoy my job of helping them expand and grow their businesses.”
Melinda and her husband spend most of their time with their children. She is also involved with the Crockett Athletic Booster Club at Crockett High School serving as the Treasurer for several years.
She is also part of the fundraising committee of The Michelle Lynn Holsey Foundation, helping with the annual concert and auction.
